Well this week has been quite hectic so I decided to show you guys my little sanctuary! I love having a space to escape from the world and get to stamping. I’m still working out how I prefer to have things organized and even recently updated my desk to have lots of room to get messy while stamping! I love seeing every stamp room that’s out there and I wanted to share mine with you.
When my boyfriend and I were looking for homes last year I knew I wanted the perfect office space to turn into my craft room. We lucked out with a home that has the perfect layout for us! I have my own little corner to play around in and he has his own side to game in; although when we first bought our home the room was anything but calming.
Why yes; that is the brightest most obnoxious shade of blue you can imagine! The first step when we moved in was to paint and rip up the old carpet. What we found underneath was even better. In our guest room was the original hardwood floors painted white! In the office was tile that was covered in paint which we both were actually happy about. It meant I could get messy with my art and not worry about getting anything on the floor.
Now that’s much better! We painted our home in a neutral gray that I absolutely love. When we first toured the house I fell in love with the molding in the office; I though it added a nice touch to what would otherwise be a plain wall. The gray is subtle but makes the room feel even better.
On my side I have a closet that is perfect for out of sight storage and I added a storage unit that houses all my crafting supplies! Plus the view from my window looks out into the front yard and the rest of the neighborhood. I love it in the fall when our giant tree is changing colors!
Now this is my craft storage. You can go ahead and ignore my very full garbage can; I’ve emptied it since I took the pictures! I have all my paper, ink, stamp sets, and supplies all organized thanks to Target. I love having my products easily accessible, it definitely makes crafting way more easier if I can just roll over in my chair and grab what’s needed. Want to get a little closer?
I love having storage on top of the organizer. This is where I keep all of my current stamps sets and DSP. I also have my (very old) Big Shot on the side which works out perfectly because I can have my own Big Shot station. I also keep all of my embossing folders and framelits with my stamp sets. Hanging on the wall I have my calendar for the year and some inspirational messages. I also have my OnStage Live badge hanging right next to a project from a Paper Pumpkin of years past!
Next is my major supplies. In the first cubby I have my In Color, Neutral, and Regal Classic Stampin’ Pads; organized alphabetically of course. In the middle cubby I keep my adhesives, bone folder, aqua painters, blender pends, and markers. I like having them handy in this cute clay pot I got from my RA in my senior year dormitory. I also have my acrylic blocks and Stamp-a-ma-jig in a small basket for easy access. In the last cubby I keep the rest of my ink pads. I have the Bight and Subtle Classic Stampin’ pads, my Basic Black and Basic Gray Archival Stampin’ Pads as well as my Versamark pad ready for use!
In the next row I keep some odds and ends for crafting. The first cubby houses all of my catalogs, notebook, and my samples. I got these super cute storage bins from Target when I bought the storage unit! In the next cubby I have all of my accessories; various ribbons, twines, threads, and washi tapes as well as some rhinestones and pearls. In the last cubby are some random supplies. I keep my punches, embossing supplies, and any additional adhesives in this storage bin. It’s almost like a junk drawer for my organizer!
Last but not least is all of my paper and paper pumpkin products. In the first cubby I have my full sheets of paper organized by collection and then alphabetically. I like having it organized the same was as the catalog that way it’s easy for me to go in and grab any color I might need for a project. I like to keep my paper pumpkins on display in the middle cubby but don’t worry; my closet is filled with tons more boxes! In the last cubby I keep scraps of card stock ready to use. Anytime I have pieces of card stock left over from a project I throw it right in there and it’s the first place I check when I’m making new cards. I got these adorable storage cubes from Five Below when I first set up my stamp room!
The last spot I wanted to show you is where the magic happens! As I said before, I recently switched out my desk. This new space gives me tons more room to get creative and make a bunch of cards. When I set up the desk Friday night I knew I needed to take it for a spin and created a bunch of samples for an event this past weekend. It was perfect for having a bunch of supplies withing reach!
I try to keep my desk as clean and organized as possible for someone who is like a tornado when I’m in the zone. I like to keep track of my various projects on post it notes and leave them on my monitor; I think it’s so satisfying taking them off once you complete a task! I also keep several planners on my desk as well as a notepad to jot down any ideas that hit me.
So that’s it for my stamp room tour! What did you guys think and how are your craft spaces set up? Let me know in the comments below and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog for updates! I have a ton of amazing projects coming next month for you guys. Stay tuned for next weeks post where I’ll be going over my favorite products from January!
xoxo,
Sarah Liz
