With the snow melting at last and spring peeking around the corner, I finally get inspired to stamp. This is the time of the year when we find out which of our favorite products will be retiring and to say goodbye some fun colors. When I got my sneak peek at the new 2018-19 Annual Catalog and I had only three words; I can’t wait! I am so excited for all the new goodies coming your way!
After snuggling down and making my wish list, I knew it was time to bid farewell to some of my Designer Series Paper. I don’t know about you guys, but every time I get a pack of DSP I’m always hesitant to use it. It’s just so pretty I can’t cut it up! Well when I dug through my DSP packs and found my Petal Garden DSP Stack (Annual, 187), I knew I had the perfect one to experiment with.
With the first card I knew the corner bunched with flowers would make the perfect background, but as I was playing around with it I realized these would be perfect for a note card (5″ x 3 1/2″) size! I chose to use the sentiments from the Picture Perfect Birthday Stamp Set (one of my favorites from the Occasions Catalog! Check out my other post on this awesome set here!) for each of my cards. I just love the font and think they go well with a variety of images!
I embossed the sentiment directly on my DSP with gold embossing powder (Annual, 201). I love the way it fills the space! I added Very Vanilla to give some contrast between my top layer and my Calypso Coral Card Base. I attached this with SNAIL (Annual, 202) and set it off to the side. To top off the card I used my favorite ribbon, the 1/4″ Natural Trim (Annual, 198) and tied it aroud my card front and into a neat knot. It adds just the right amount of glitz! I attached my card front to my card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals (Annual, 203) and my card was complete!
Not only is this a great note to send on someones birthday, the sentiment also doubles to create a unique message for your mother on this upcoming Mother’s Day!
For my next card I knew the over sized flowers would be eye catching. I paired that with another sentiment embossed (I’m sure you could tell by now I love to emboss anything and everything!) with gold embossing powder. I then attached it to a piece of Calypso Coral card stock and set it to the side. I attached my piece of DSP to my Calypso Coral card base and attached the sentiment with dimensionals. To finish off the card I tied a bow using the 1/4″ Natural Trim ribbon. The Mini Glue Dots (Annual, 202) always come in handy for bows just like this!
For my last card it was all about playing with colors. I love the way the colors pop against each other with this card! First I embossed my sentiment with gold embossing powder on a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock. I attached that to a piece of Calypso Coral card stock and set it aside.
To create this background I cut one sheet into two pieces. I used both sides to get a full image. I attached those pieces to a a piece of scrap cardstock in the size I needed. To finish off the background I wrapped a piece of the 1/4″ Natural Trim ribbon where the two piece met, I love the way it breaks up the two patterns. I attached the finished card front to the Calypso Coral card base. I added my sentiment with dimensionals and decided I needed a little something in the bottom half. I found that my Pearl Basic Jewels (Annual, 197) looked great to balance out the top!
These three cards was the perfect way to use this amazing DSP and to play around with the size of cards. I know I like to stick to certain measurements and to push myself out of my comfort zone is always a blast. What do you guys do to push yourself further? Let me know in the comments down below!
